Fredericton publishing house Goose Lane Editions launched a Passamaquoddy-Maliseet Dictionary on December 11, 2008. Maliseet is an indigenous New Brunswick language that has, like its sister Passamaquoddy, suffered severe decline since confederation. Conservative estimates put the number of fluent speakers around 300.
